Crafting with Kenson Kids: Back-to-School Confidence Kit Craft (Backpack Tag + Chart)

The week or two before school starts is the perfect window to build a little confidence — not with a pep talk, but with something hands-on your child helps make themselves.

Backpack Tag Craft

Cut a small piece of cardstock into a tag shape, punch a hole, and let your child decorate it — their name, a favorite sticker, whatever feels like theirs. Laminate it (even packing tape works) and attach it to their backpack zipper. It's a small thing, but a backpack that feels personalized helps a new routine feel less unfamiliar.

Confidence Countdown Chain

The week before school is also a great time to build a paper chain that counts down the days — but instead of just a number on each link, write a confidence prompt: something they're good at, a challenge they've gotten through before, something new they're excited to learn, someone who believes in them. Cut strips of colored paper, loop them together, and hang the chain somewhere they'll see it each morning. Pull off one link a day and talk through it together — by the first day of school, they've got a running list of reasons they're ready.

One You Don't Have to Make: Before & After School Chart

Once the backpack tag and confidence chain are done, you don't need to DIY a routine chart too.
