Family Fun Nights: End-of-Summer Scavenger Hunt the Whole Family Will Love

Summer's winding down, and a scavenger hunt is one of the best ways to send it off — it's active, it's screen-free, and it works for a wide range of ages at once.

How to Run It

Print a list of items to find — something red, a smooth rock, a bug, a leaf shaped like a heart — and send kids off in the yard, park, or around the neighborhood. For younger kids, use pictures instead of words. For older kids, add a time limit or turn it into teams.

When it came to games, I spent countless hours creating games of my own that my kids could play.
